Having sat vacant for several years, an eyesore of a building in the 1500 block of South Odell Avenue in Marshall should be torn down soon.

During the meeting of the city council on Tuesday, February 22, City Administrator JD Kehrman said the clock is now ticking for the start of the demolition of the old IGA building.

The up-front cost of the agreement is $130,000 for REMCO to remove the buildings and the parking lot, leaving only a lot of dirt. The city will front the cost of the project. In December, Kehrman noted the city will recover the money from the property owner over time.
