A Sedalia man has been charged with murder in the death of 24-year-old Micah Munro on August 23, 2021.
A news release says Sedalia Police responded to South Quincy on a report of a male not breathing. The male subject was identified as Munro. Officers immediately began life-saving measures, along with members of PCAD and Sedalia Fire, but despite extensive efforts to save Munro, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Via toxicology reports, it was determined that fentanyl was the cause of death.
Months of investigation revealed the supplier allegedly was 30-year-old Nathan Riga. Riga allegedly supplied Munro with fentanyl capsules just hours before his death.
According to court documents, Riga is charged with felonies for second-degree murder, delivery of a controlled substance and tampering with physical evidence in a felony prosecution. He is being held without bond.
Riga was formally arraigned on Wednesday, February 23. His next hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, at Pettis County Circuit Court.
