
The Lafayette County Health Department reports the county’s COVID-19 related death count has exceeded triple digits.
On Monday, February 28, the health department reported five additional deaths – bringing the total to 105 deaths since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Health officials say there are currently 21 active cases and 24 hospitalizations. This week, Lafayette County has confirmed 5,154 positive cases, compared to 5,055 on February 14.
Per the CDC, 51.7 percent of the population in Lafayette County have initiated their first dose of their vaccine series, while 45.3 percent of individuals in the county have completed primary series.
The case count since February 14 breaks down as 21 in Higginsville;19 in Odessa; 17 cases in Concordia; 13 cases in Lexington and 11 in Bates City; seven in Bates City; other cities in the county reports less than 5 cases each.
