A Wichita, Kansas, man is facing felony charges for allegedly illegally entering somebody else’s rented room and stealing items on February 15.

According to a Boonville Police report, the residents of the room reported several items- valued at more than $1,400- had been stolen. It is their belief that Matthew Hewerdine burglarized the room.

During an investigative stop of Herwerdine, authorities say they located a Google Chromebook and several other items that had been reported stolen.

Court documents say Hewerdine is charged with felonies for first-degree burglary and stealing of $750 or more. Bond is fixed at $30,000 cash or surety.

Hewerdine was arraigned and entered a plea of not guilty on February 16.

His next hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, at Cooper County Circuit Court.
