Half of Pettis County’s active COVID-19 cases have been determined to be breakthrough cases.

According to the CDC, a “breakthrough” case is when a person tests positive for COVID-19 at least two weeks after becoming fully vaccinated.

The Pettis County COVID-19 Task Force says, as of Monday, February 28, 25 out of 50 cases counted for a breakthrough rate. Of the vaccinated individuals, 10 had received a booster dose.

At the Task Force’s most recent meeting this week, there were 11,789 positive cases reported as compared to 11,753 positive cases reported on February 22 and 11,670 positive cases reported on February 14. This is an increase of 36 cases in the past week and 119 cases in the past two weeks.

There are four individuals hospitalized at Bothwell as compared to 10 last week – no patients on a ventilator.

Per the Department of Health and Senior Services’ website, Pettis County has 120 confirmed PCR tested deaths and 31 deaths with a positive antigen test.
