The Cooper County Public Health Center reports 147 new COVID-19 cases in the month of February, as compared to 678 in January 2022.

According to the Cooper County Public Health Center, the case count includes all individuals living within the geographical boundaries of a school district.

Boonville led with the most cases in February, with approximately 65 percent of the month’s total at 96 cases. Followed by:

  • Otterville School District – 17 cases;
  • Pilot Grove School District – 11 cases;
  • Prairie Home School District – 10 cases;
  • Bunceton School District- 6 cases;
  • Out of County School District – 5 cases; and
  • Blackwater School District – 2 cases

With a total of 4,353 confirmed cases since the beginning of the pandemic -3,982 of them classified as recovered, and 74 COVID-19 related deaths – there are currently 15 active cases.

Health officials say, “COVID deaths are slow to be reported and confirmed. It is not an easy process to receive death notices and causes. You may have a Cooper County address but pass away in another city, state or county. Some death certificates take several months to be reported.”
