On November 17, 2021, a fire at Marshall High School damaged a room and left the carpeted area of the building uninhabitable by teachers, staff and students.

Work has been taking place the last three-plus months, and enough cleaning from the soot and smoke damage has been done to allow for regular classes to resume later this month, according to superintendent Dr. Carol Maher. Prior to that, students, parents and the general public are invited to take a look at the progress that has been made during two directed tours this week.

A release from Dr. Maher says, “As a “Welcome Home” celebration, (high school principal) Christy Jones will be conducting tours of Marshall High School prior to the opening of the building to students on the 22nd of this month. We hope students, parents and community members will take advantage of these opportunities to see the status of the building as we return to MHS.”

Dr. Maher says there will be two tours. The first is scheduled for approximately 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, following the Academic Banquet. The second is scheduled for approximately 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 10, before the Jazz Band Concert. Both tours will begin in the front lobby/foyer area of the building.
