
Myra Jane Copeland, age 87, of Marshall, MO, died Sunday, March 6, 2022, at The Arbors at Westport Estates Assisted Living in Marshall.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 10, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Born January 11, 1935, in Miami, MO, she was the daughter of the late Jesse James Copeland and Maude Jane Carr Copeland. She was a graduate of Marshall High School, attended Missouri Valley College and was a graduate of Missouri State Teacher’s College in Warrensburg. She lived in Marshall most of her life and taught school in Lee’s Summit for a few years, returning to Marshall to take care of her parents. She had a love for animals, was an animal activist and very involved in the Saline Animal League.
Survivors include two nephews, Rick Cox of Veradale, WA and Jess Cox of Chelsea, MI; three great-nephews; brother-in-law, Weldon Cox of St. Louis, MO; two cousins, Peggy Igo Moore and Lois Castle both of Marshall; and a cousin-in-law, Iola Staub of Lee’s Summit, MO.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Mahala Cox.
