A felony charge has been filed against a 33-year-old Sedalia man after a reported assault on February 13.

A Sedalia Police report says officers were dispatched to a disturbance, and a woman told them that during an argument, Brandon J. Cooper punched her in the face several times, pinned her on the floor, punched her in her sides and back. She also claimed Cooper suffocated her by holding a pillow over her face until she passed out. Authorities say the woman had very thin vertical scratches on her face and a small amount of dried blood.

Court documents say Cooper is charged with a felony for domestic assault in the third degree. Cooper posted $25,000 surety bond on March 4.

Cooper is scheduled to be arraigned at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, March 15, at Pettis County Circuit Court.
