Charged with murder, following the report of an accidental shooting on November 23, 2021, a Warsaw man is due in court.

A report from the Benton County Sheriff’s Department says authorities responded to the report of an accidental shooting in the Bent Tree Harbor subdivision in Warsaw. Upon arrival, deputies located 28-year-old Tarah D. McIntyre, of the residence, who died at the scene despite authorities attempting life-saving measures.

Jason L. Kroenke told authorities he and McIntyre were the only two people in the bedroom and had been doing meth since 10 p.m. on November 22. After getting into an argument, Kroenke said he was standing with his back to McIntyre, and she had threatened to kill herself. He said, as he turned around, the gun went off.

Authorities say Kroenke’s account was inconsistent with the evidence at the crime scene and was arrested.

Court documents say Kroenke is charged with felonies for first-degree murder and armed criminal action. Kroenke is being held without bond.

Kroenke pleaded not guilty on November 30. His next hearing is scheduled for 8 a.m. Tuesday, March 15, at Benton County Circuit Court.
