Catherine “Katy” Louise Nuelle, age 89, passed away March 13, 2022, at Meyer Care Center in Higginsville, MO.

She was born March 23, 1932, in Calhoun, Missouri, the second daughter of James Elmer and Maude Vivian (Doss) Farmer. She attended rural grade school and Higginsville High School, graduating in 1949, and attended Central Missouri State College. She married William Leo Nuelle on January 10, 1953.

Catherine worked in Kansas City at BMA and then in Higginsville for John Ziekle, Higginsville Lumber, Community Lumber and Tracy and Wegener Excavation until she was 87. Catherine also was the bookkeeper for their farm, Davis Creek Stock Farm, and was an active farm wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a 4-H leader and Sunday school teacher. She loved music, dancing, gardening, cooking, canning and Hallmark movies. She will be remembered for her clever wit, quiet strength, love of family and her strong work ethic. She was a long time member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and St. George Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; her parents; and sister, Doris Tobin Struchtemeyer.

She is survived by children, Monica Ah-Loe of Kansas City, MO, Diane Terry of Higginsville and David Nuelle of Higginsville; grandchildren: Clayton (Julia) and Kyle (Katie) Nuelle, Nicholas and Isaac Ah-Loe; and great grandchildren: Henry, Emma, Isabella and Claire Nuelle.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 17, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 9:30 and visitation will follow until service time. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to St. Mary’s Cemetery Fund or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
