All area veterans are invited to an Open House at Malta Bend Memorial Post 558 at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 21.

According to a press release, Heather Brown, the Strategic Partnership Officer at Truman Medical Center, is going to visit the Post to discuss veterans’ healthcare and how the Truman Veterans Hospital can assist veterans in obtaining support.

Brown is scheduled to talk about eligibility and how veterans can apply for assistance. And though she may not be able to schedule appointments, she can assist with any specific challenges that an individual may have with service. She also will be able to talk about area clinics and how they operate with Truman Hospital- many area veterans get service out of Sedalia.

Brown will be able to register veterans, and plans to do so for interested individuals.

If you have an issue requiring special attention, you are urged to drop by and ask the question. If there is something with your VA medical care- either current or past service- you are invited to discuss it. Note: Brown is not a Services Officer, so there are some topics she may not be able to address at the meeting, but she will get you connected to the correct source.

If you have any questions about the meeting, contact Post 558 Adjutant, Steve Olson at (660) 202-9105.

For those who may not have ever been to the Malta Bend Post, it is located at 27003 DayBreak Avenue, just off of Highway 65. Take Highway 65 north out of Marshall, and turn left at the red four-way blinking light at the Waggin’ Wheel Restaurant. The Post is a blue Wick-type building just out of town on the right side of the gravel road.
