The Sweet Springs Board of Aldermen considered some bids during its meeting this week.
According to unofficial minutes from the meeting, two bids were submitted for park attendant from April to October 2021. The bids were $399 a month or $2,793 for the year from Terry Neth and $600 a month or $4,000 a year from Sherry Bullock. The Park Board recommended to accept the bid from Bullock due to past contract issues. Alderman John Clevenger said he had a hard time paying $600 a month when there was a lower bid. A motion was made by Alderman Trey Schleicher and seconded by Alderman Boyd Jones to reject all bids and solicit new bids. The vote was 2-2, and Mayor Franny Vaught’s no vote meant the bids would be reconsidered.
Clevenger motioned and it was seconded by Alderman Wyatt Lea to approve the bid from Neth. The motion was approved 3-1.
The Park Board also received three bids for a mowing contract. The bids were $1,200 per month or $8,400 total from S&S Mowing; $1,142.88 per month or $8,000 total from Noah’s Lawn Care/Red Letter Management; and Rock Creek Lawn Services LLC’s bid of $1,575 per month or $11,025 total. The Park Board recommended aldermen accept Noah’s Lawn Care/Red Letter Management’s bid, but they voted 3-1 to accept the bid from S&S Mowing.
Also, two bids were received for mowing the cemetery. They were $1,068.75 per month for one year and $1,176 per month for two years from Rock Creek Lawn Services LLC; and $1,125 per month for a two-year contract from Keith Thomas and Nathan Belden. The Cemetery Board recommended, and aldermen approved the bid from Thomas and Belden unanimously.
