
The highly-anticipated Heckart Community Center in Sedalia opened its doors to residents today, as crowds gathered to celebrate its grand opening.
The multi-purpose building allows the community to enjoy an indoor aquatic facility, basketball/volleyball/pickleball courts, a fitness center, rental rooms/spaces for conventions and/or parties, a child watch program and homes the Sedalia Senior Center.
During the grand opening ceremony, Amy Epple, Sedalia Parks and Recreation’s director, gave her appreciation to voters who supported the project, as well as community leaders and the Sedalia 200 School District.

Following the ribbon cutting ceremony, the public was invited to explore the facilities amenities.
Officials say the Heckart Community Center is open until 9 p.m. Friday, March 18. Official hours of operation can be found here.
