
Saline County Career Center DECA students reaped the rewards of their year-long class projects March 13-15.
According to a news release, at the Missouri DECA State Career Development Conference, five students qualified to present their projects and DECA role-play at the next level. DECA’s International Career Development Conference is scheduled to be held in Atlanta, Georgia from April 22-27.
During the State conference, several students presented projects they began working on at the beginning of the school year and were evaluated by a judging panel consisting of more than 100 business and industry professionals.
- Holly Huston and Bailey Kueker placed in the top ten as a team with their integrated marketing event for “A House for Stories Bookshop” in Marshall.
- Jessica Parada and Lizvet Menendez placed in the top ten and earned a 3rd place trophy with their community giving project, “Show Mercy.”
- Cynthia Martinez placed in the top ten with her community awareness project, “Queens of the Mats.”
- Xane Anderson placed in the top ten for his start up business plan, “Asylum Speedshop.”
- Kelly Stewart placed in the top ten with her community awareness project, “Help”.
- Avery Evans placed top ten with her food marketing individual role-play.
- Michelle Lin placed top ten with her principles of marketing event role-play and earned a 2nd place trophy.
All students who competed at state were finalists at the state competition and received recognition and medals for their events.
This year Lin, Parada, Menendez, Huston and Kueker are scheduled to represent the SCCC chapter at ICDC with their events in April.
