A 38-year-old Wichita, Kansas man was charged with attempting to tamper with a victim after an incident that took place in February.

According to a probable-cause statement, Matthew Steven Hewerdine allegedly attempted to dissuade the victims from reporting any victimization. Hewerdine did this while on a recorded phone call inside the Cooper County Detention Center.

Court documents say a warrant was issued and bond is fixed at $15,000 cash or surety.

Hewerdine’s hearing is pending at Cooper County Circuit Court.
