Formal charges have been filed against two Marshall residents after law-enforcement officers responded to a call regarding shots fired last week.

A press release says at approximately 9:15 p.m. on Thursday, March 17, the Marshall Police Department received information from Saline County E-911 concerning a report of multiple gunshots in the 600 block of South Odell Avenue. Officers responded to investigate, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol and Saline County Sheriff’s Office also responded to assist.

Upon Marshall Police officers’ arrival, they heard a disturbance inside the residence. Officers approached the residence, observed a man and woman in an altercation, and the man had a rifle in his possession. Officers were able to subdue the man who resisted arrest.

Officers transported 34-year-old Luis Garcia and 35-year-old Sheyna Ramos to the Saline County Justice Facility.

According to court documents, Garcia is charged with felonies for unlawful use of a weapon- exhibiting and resisting arrest for a felony, as well as assault in the third degree. His bond is set at $10,000 cash only on the first two charges and $10,000 cash only on the assault charge. Ramos is charged with a felon for resisting or interfering with an arrest for a felony, with bond fixed at $5,000 cash or surety.

An initial hearing for each defendant is pending at Saline County Circuit Court.
