Mary Beth Hanes, 81, of Marshall, MO, died Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at her home.

A private service will be held, and burial will follow in Ridge Park Cemetery.  Friends may come by the funeral home to sign the guestbook and pay their respects to Beth from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall.  With COVID-19 taking Beth from us and due to the continuing risks that COVID poses to our vulnerable and unvaccinated loved ones, the family respectfully requests that face masks be worn.  Memorials are suggested to the Foundation Fighting Blindness, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or Saline Animal League in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home.  An online guestbook is available at www.campbell-lewis.com

Beth was born in Napton, MO, on October 23, 1940, the oldest child of James Kenneth Hollywood and Georgia Windmeyer Hollywood.  She was always proud of her heritage in Napton where she attended school through the 8th grade.  Since Napton did not have a high school, she attended Marshall High School and graduated from there in 1958.  Beth attended a comptometer’s school in Kansas City that helped her excel as a bookkeeper throughout her life.  She worked at DeKalb, Farm Bureau, Red Cross Pharmacy, also working part time at the Hallmark Store, then retiring from MFA Livestock.  On October 17, 1987, she married Don Hanes who preceded her in death on August 21, 1995.  After Beth and Don married, they moved to Cedar Rapids, IA, for a short while and while there Beth worked at The Heritage Area Agency on Aging at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids.

Beth was a member of First Christian Church, Stitch By Stitch Quilters Guild, and Marshall Chapter of the D.A.R.

Survivors include her two sons, Scott Latimer of Marshall and Brad Latimer (Carla Davey) of Verona, WI; three grandsons: Chris Howe (Madelyn), Nate Latimer (fiancée Linda Hostetter), and Nick Latimer (fiancée Katie Wansing); one granddaughter, Ember Davey of Verona, WI; two sisters, Pam Riggs (Kevin) of Marshall, and Beverly York of Olney, TX; as well as nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
