A court proceeding is scheduled for a Boonville man who is charged with felonies after authorities responded to the report of a disturbance involving a handgun at a motel on February.

According to the Boonville Police Department, officers were dispatched to the Super 8 Motel on Americana Drive. Officers found a female victim who had been assaulted and were advised that her assailant had a weapon in his possession during the assault.

Officers searched the immediate area- which included motel rooms that were listed as vacant- and they located the alleged suspect inside one of the vacant rooms. While placing the man under arrest, a handgun was located in his possession.

During a search of the room where the man was actually staying, a large amount of drugs including prescription medications also were found.

Court documents say Charles Walker is charged with felonies for delivery of a controlled substance, third-degree domestic assault and unlawful possession of a firearm. Bond is fixed at $100,000 cash or surety.

Walker pleaded not guilty on February 15. His counsel-status hearing is set for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 22, at Cooper County Circuit Court.
