On March 2, Sedalia Police officers responded to a residence at 1011 South Harrison Avenue for a report of gunshots heard by residents in the area.

A press release says officers canvassed the area and located shell casings in the alley behind the home, and bullet holes were located in a neighbor’s vehicle and privacy fence. Contact was attempted at 1011 South Harrison Avenue, but nobody came to speak to the officers.

Authorities allege Arthur Gordon Phillips Jr. was involved in the shooting incident and had active warrants for original charges of unlawful use of a weapon and possession of dangerous drugs out of Cole County. The warrants provided no bond.

A search warrant was obtained, and on Friday, March 25, officers executed the search warrant at 1011 South Harrison Avenue and located three adults, including Phillips, and three juveniles. Phillips was taken into custody on his active warrants. Authorities say a search of the residence revealed methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia items. Phillips was transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold, pending formal charges in Pettis County.

In addition to the arrest, the residence was determined to be in violation of Sedalia City Ordinance 36-96- Prohibition Against Maintaining a Nuisance Property. The residence was posted with the notice of the violation, mandating the property owner resolve the violations within 60 days.

The March 2 shooting incident is still under investigation.
