
A man who was inmate at the Boonville Correctional Center more than a year and a half ago and has been charged with a couple of felonies for allegedly attacking one of its personnel on July 1, 2020, is due in court.
William Riggs, who is now 61, is accused of entering a Housing Unit at the facility and physically attacking the Institutional Probation Officer. Riggs also reportedly admitted to an investigator that he had planned to rape her.
According to court documents, Riggs is charged with felonies for violence against an employee of the department of corrections by an inmate and rape or attempted rape in the first degree- aggravated sexual assault.
Riggs’ pleaded not guilty on March 2, 2021, and his case was bound over to circuit court on November 30. Riggs waived arraignment on January 10, and his next hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 28, at Cooper County Circuit Court.
