
Karen Sue Walz, age 76, of Sedalia, died Sunday, March 27, 2022, at Boone Hospital in Columbia.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 2, at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel in Sedalia. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral chapel.
She was born September 27, 1945 in Sedalia, a daughter of the late Charles Edgar and Mary Opal Kendrick Lower. She married Don Walz, who preceded her in death.
Karen was raised and educated in Sedalia. She and her husband Don owned and operated the Pettis County Fruit Growers Orchard and Walz Country Cooking Café for many years. Karen enjoyed dancing, fishing and visiting casinos. She cherished the holidays and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They loved her Donald Duck impression. She always let her family know that she loved them “A Bushel and a Peck”.
She is survived by four sons, Keith Lawson, of Springfield, MO, Robert Lawson (Rita), Charles Lawson (Ronda) and Kevin Lawson (Anjelica) all of Sedalia; a brother, Mike Lower; five sisters, Donna Georgewitz (Rich), Marilyn Bush (Mike), Becci Osgood (Ron), Debbi Blakenship and Dana Hayworth; ten grandchildren, Andrew, Paige, Amanda, Travis, Trenton, Thaddeus, Sara, Jeremy, Katelyn and Justin Lawson; and eight great-grandchildren, William, Emily, Lexus, Zadia, Kenzie, Braelynn, Paisley and Oaklyn.
Pallbearers will be Katelyn Lawson, Trenton Lawson, Amanda Nicole Martz, Jeremy Lawson, Justin Lawson and Andrew Lawson. Honorary pallbearers will be Travis Lawson, Sara Marie Lawson, Paige Lawson and Thaddeus Blaylock. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.
