Smith-Cotton High School’s robotics program, Team SCREAM, will host the FIRST Robotics Central Missouri Regional competition this week in Sedalia.

Team SCREAM head coach Michael Wright says set up begins Thursday. He says the official competition begins on Saturday, so it will be a Saturday-Sunday competition event.

Wright says the doors open early Saturday morning, with competition lasting well into the afternoon hours each day.

Wright- who said 25 teams are expected from a five-state area- further explains the event.

Wright encourages all residents to come and check out the events. All events are free and open to the public at the Smith-Cotton High School gymnasium.

Winners will qualify for the World Championships scheduled to be held from April 19-24 in Houston, according to Wright.
