Two more COVID-19-related deaths have been reported in an area county.

According to Lafayette County Health Department officials, the two deaths raise the county’s total to 111 since the beginning of the pandemic.

An update on Monday, March 28, says the county currently has 14 active cases, including eight persons hospitalized due to the virus. The positivity rate as of March 24 was 1.34 percent, per the CDC’s COVID Data Tracker.

Since the last report on March 21, there have been five new PCR cases and five positive Rapid Antigen results. In all, there has been a total of 5,212 positive cases in the county.

Per the CDC, 52.1 percent of people in Lafayette County have initiated their vaccination series; and 45.4 percent of county residents have completed primary series.
