A Pilot Grove man was arrested and has been charged after authorities apprehended him on March 30.

According to Cooper County Sheriff Chris Class, members of the Cooper County Sheriff’s Office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol went to an address in Pilot Grove to serve a Cooper County warrant on a subject in reference to a previous stealing and property damage case. While at the residence, deputies and troopers noticed specific property lying around that led to probable cause that more stolen items were present at the residence.

After securing a search warrant, several other items located at the property were found to be stolen from not only Cooper County but several surrounding jurisdictions. The investigation continues.

On March 31, the Cooper County Prosecutor filed formal charges against 41-year-old James Haney and a warrant was issued. He is charged with four felony counts of receiving stolen property. Bond is set at $7,500 cash only.

Haney’s initial hearing is pending at Cooper County Circuit Court.
