Larry Wayne Stockman was born February 2, 1951, in Marshall and was raised in the house just outside Alma, Missouri, in which he would spend most of his life. He was the only son of the late Erwin “Dick” Johann Hermann Stockman and the late Elsie Berta Ella (Roehrs) Stockman.

A 1969 graduate of Santa Fe High School, he spent a semester at Central Missouri State, then embarked on a series of jobs – the creamery in Emma; an employment agency in Memphis, Tennessee; farming, selling real estate, property management back in Missouri – before returning to CMSU and his education, where he discovered a passion for economics, which led him in turn to his calling as a professor. His three-plus decades on the faculty of Missouri Valley College lasted through three of the school’s presidents and four of its head football coaches. For the last 18 years, he was Chair of the Business Division. In addition to economics, Larry loved gardening, grilling and his grandchildren.

Larry is survived by his wife, Beverly Katz, of the home; two sons, Sebastian Stockman of Cambridge, Mass., and Jon Stockman of Alma; two stepsons, Ben Schacter of Columbia, and David Schacter of Las Vegas, Nev.; two beloved daughters-in-law, Katie Stockman of Cambridge, Mass., and Ashley Stockman of Alma; five grandchildren, Carleigh of Marshall and Alma, Annie and Ike of Cambridge, Mass.; Hudson and Kynslee of Alma.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Jean, who died in infancy.
