After the city of Marshall bought the tract of land where the old Fitzgibbon Hospital sits, the city went to work to secure a demolition company to tear down old, dilapidated structure that has sat mostly vacant for three decades.
During the city council meeting on Monday, April 4, City Administrator JD Kehrman said REMCO was the low bidder for the demolition project at 868 South Brunswick Avenue.
Ward 2 Councilman Kirk Arends asked Kehrman a question.
Mayor pro tem Dan Brandt said three bids were received for the project.
Arends asked Kehrman when the project possibly could begin if the bid was approved by the council.
Arends made a motion to accept the bid from REMCO- provided more negotiations can bring down the overall price of the project. The council approved the bid with that stipulation in mind.
