Marshall’s City Council shares several considerations for pay and rate increases in the Sanitation Department.

Department of Municipal Services current wages for 22 full-time employees is $981,723; average fringe benefits for 22 full-time employees is $521,154; and average PTO for 22 full-time employees is $134,188 for a total of $1,637,065 per year. The current budget for this department’s payroll, with fringe benefits, is $1,528,544.

The Department of Municipal Services at a 23.5-percent increase in wages for budgeted 26 full-time employees is $1,293,669. The average fringe benefits for 26 full-time employees is $640,846, and average PTO for 26 full-time employees is $184,971, making the total $2,119,486 per year.

The city’s 5,081 customers will need to pay an increase of $9.69 monthly to cover the difference of $590,942.

The Department of Municipal Services- at the Director’s recommendation- increase in wages for budgeted 26 full-time employees is $1,088,456; average fringe benefits for 26 full-time employees is $614,579; and average PTO for 26 full-time employees is $155,761 for a total of $1,858,796 per year. The city’s 5,081 customers will need to increase $5.42 monthly to cover the difference of $330,252.

Also note: Municipal Services also utilizes four part-time employees for various jobs. Neither part-time wages nor any overtime wages are factored into the figures posted. Also, not factored in are yearly cost-of-living increases for future years.
