
A Malta Bend resident was arrested and charged with a felony and three misdemeanors after authorities were dispatched to address a civil standby earlier this month.
According to a report from the Saline County Sheriff’s Department, the incident turned into an investigation upon learning of homicidal threats made by one of the persons involved. On April 3, the investigation resulted in the arrest of a subject for communicating terroristic threats and expressing homicidal statements. A person at the residence requested deputies to keep the peace as he removed items from his residence due to homicidal threats from a roommate.
Court documents say William Newell Brown is charged with a felony for unlawful use of a weapon- exhibiting and misdemeanors for two counts of domestic assault and property damage in the second degree. He is being held without bond.
Brown was formally arraigned on April 6. A confined-docket hearing is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 12, at Saline County Circuit Court.
