A Sedalia man has been charged with multiple felonies after a reported incident that took place in Marshall on April 2.

According to a probable cause statement, Jesse Roger Marquess is alleged to have struck a woman twice in the neck with his fists while the woman was asleep. Marquess is also alleged to have hit the woman the in the face the night before. Marquess is also said to have threatened the woman multiple times and prevents her from driving her car or using her phone. Authorities say Marquess was arrested in September of 2021 for stabbing the woman in the arm. Marquess admitted to authorities from the Saline County Sheriff’s Office that he injected methamphetamine prior to deputies arriving.

Authorities say the woman had slight redness on her neck and a red scratch on her face.

According to court documents, Marquess is charged with multiple felonies of domestic assault in the third degree. He is being held without bond.

Marquess has a confined-docket hearing scheduled to be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 12; and a preliminary hearing scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 4 at Saline County Circuit Court.
