A Sedalia man has been charged with felonies after a reported high-speed pursuit on multiple roadways on Monday, April 11.

According to a Pettis County Sheriff’s report, a deputy attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle sped away. At points during the pursuit, the suspect vehicle allegedly reached a speed on 100 mph on U.S. Highway 50 and 80 mph on a city street. Along the way, authorities say the suspect discarded items out of the vehicle. During the pursuit, there were two other persons in the vehicle. They exited at different instances, but one person was run over by the suspect vehicle and had to be taken to the hospital.

Devon Eugene Stout eventually stopped and exited the vehicle. He had two syringes on him, and authorities say they contained a liquid substance that tested positive for methamphetamine.

Court documents say Stout is charged with felonies for resisting arrest, detention or stop by fleeing and possession of a controlled substance, as well as a misdemeanor for kidnapping in the third degree. Bond is fixed at $15,000 cash or surety.

Stout’s initial hearing is pending at Pettis County Circuit Court.
