Students will once again need to pay for breakfast and lunch in an area school district beginning in August 2022.

According to unofficial minutes from the Glasgow School Board meeting on Wednesday, April 13, on March 18, the district received notice from the Department of Education Food and Nutrition Services that Congress did not extend the waiver for next year (2022-23) to allow students to eat school breakfast and lunch for free.

District officials point out this will not affect this school year. However, beginning in August 2022, the district will once again be required to charge students for eating breakfast and lunch at school. The Glasgow School Board will set the 2022-23 breakfast and lunch prices at the June meeting to allow families time to prepare for this change.

In other news, 10 Glasgow students performed the National Anthem at a MIZZOU softball tournament in Columbia on March 20. Since that performance, the girls have been asked back to sing the National Anthem at a MIZZOU baseball game on Tuesday, April 19.
