
A 34-year-old Odessa man has been charged with felonies after a reported incident on March 16, 2022.
According to a probable cause statement, Odessa Police were directed to an apartment building in Odessa where Thurman Kyle Swift allegedly took a cell phone from a woman’s hand. Swift was said to have forcefully taken the phone. The woman got away from Swift and locked herself in a room. Swift reportedly followed her and began to pound on the door. Officers arrived and placed Swift under arrest. Swift began to resist arrest. Officers noted that Swift was intoxicated at the time of the incident. Swift was transported to Lafayette County Jail.
Court documents say Swift is charged with felonies for stealing and resisting arrest as well as a misdemeanor for assault in the fourth degree. Swift originally posted $10,000 surety bond on March 17. Swift was arraigned April 6 and plead not guilty.
Swift has a motion hearing scheduled to be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 20; and a bond appearance hearing scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday, May 4 at Lafayette County Circuit Court.
