The Glasgow School Board approved several action items during its meeting this month.

According to unofficial minutes from the meeting, the board approved a bid from Custom Glass to replace the last remaining exterior doors on the north side of the high school building.

The board also OK’d a contract with Educational Assistance, LLC, to provide achievement and I.Q. testing services to the district.

The purchase of a new gym floor mat to protect the floor when the area is in use for events other than basketball games was approved.

The board also approved needed repairs for the FFA greenhouse

Also, a Memorandum of Understanding for the funding of the Missouri Postsecondary Advising Initiative Program was given the green light. The District applied for this grant several weeks ago and received word that it has been awarded the Missouri Postsecondary Advising (MPAI) Grant. This grant is meant to connect high school students in rural Missouri with college and career opportunities. The purpose of this grant is to ensure all high school students in rural communities have a local MPAI advisor in their high school who exclusively focuses on helping students make informed decisions about their postsecondary futures. This grant award will allow the district to hire a part-time advisor to work with students at no cost to the district the first year and minimal cost the second year of the program. At this time, the district expects this program to only be funded for the 2022-23 and 2023-24 school years.

The board also approved the addition of a full-time school nurse for the 2022-23 school year. The district will continue to seek grant funding for this position. In the meantime, district officials say the district’s fund balances are strong, and the need for this position has become more and more apparent throughout the pandemic. This position will be advertised for very soon.

The board also accepted the resignations of Dominik Lehman (Instrumental Music), Julie DeBord (Art) and Brooke Barron (paraprofessional); and extended a contract to Shelly Swink for Instrumental Music.
