An area county coroner’s office recovered a dead body at a residence this week.

According to Saline County Coroner Willie Harlow, at approximately 3 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, his office was requested to respond to a private residence located near Marshall Junction following a structure fire.

Upon arrival, the Missouri State Fire Marshal, Saline County Rural Fire Protection District and Saline County Sheriff’s Office were on the scene. They advised Harlow that they had located a deceased person in the residence. That person was identified as Larry R. Thomas, the sole resident of the home, and he was transported to the Saline County Coroner’s Office.

The investigation into the cause of the fire is continuing by the State Fire Marshal’s Office, and an autopsy will be conducted.
