
Jack L. Dunn, age 78, of Concordia, died Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at Bethel United Church of Christ in Concordia, with Rev. Dr. Alan Gatewood and William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 25, 2022, at Bethel United Church of Christ. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date in Bethel Cemetery. Born May 3, 1943, in Carrollton, he was the son of the late John Clarence Dunn and Lydia Evelyn Harlow Dunn. He was a 1961 graduate of Carrollton High School and received a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in mathematics, graduating with honors cum laude from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg. On February 5, 1966 he married Norma L. Payson who preceded him in death on September 5, 2021. He taught mathematics at CMSU for six years; Concordia R-II School district from 1974 to 1977 and again from 1980 to 1981; and worked as a car salesman at Walkenhorst Motors in between teaching. He was a marketing supervisor for Cameron Mutual Insurance Company for 26 years, retiring on February 12, 2008, and was a certified insurance counselor. In earlier years, he coached at Concordia High School and Concordia Senior League boys. He lived in Concordia since 1973, was a member of Bethel United Church of Christ where he had served as past council president; a member of Concordia Lions Club where he had served as president; and a member of USGA. In his free time he enjoyed golfing, watching sports, coin collecting, genealogy and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include two children, Kathryn Wood (Darren) of Concordia and John Dunn of Blue Springs, MO; five grandchildren, Cassandra McCollum (Gabe), Spencer Wood (Paige), Samantha Jones (Jake), Megan Kiger and Kaiya Dunn; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Jack was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Lainey Karolyne McGee; four brothers, Clarence, William, Glenn and Tommy Dunn; and one sister, Twila Warner.
