Superintendent Dr. Carol Maher reviewed base salary for teachers from area schools, projected revenues for 2022-23, and the future of the district’s budget at the Marshall School Board meeting on Wednesday, April 20.

The board was given three scenarios with base salaries set at $38,000, $39,000 and $40,000.

According to unofficial minutes from the meeting, after a lengthy discussion, the board voted 4-2 to increase the base salary for teachers to $39,000 for the 2022-23 school year.

In other news, the board unanimously approved a 5.2-percent increase for classified staff and to increase summer help pay from $10 to $13 per hour.

The board did not take any action on the extra-duty salary schedule since it is tied to the teachers’ salary schedule.

The board unanimously approved to table the administrative salaries until more information is available.

Also, Caleb Petet, who will be MPS Superintendent as of July 1, 2022, was introduced by board president Bryon Jacques.
