Facing a sex-related felony charge for allegedly soliciting a teenage girl to adhere to sexual requests, a Centerview man is due in court.

According to a probable-cause statement, authorities allege while he was incarcerated at the Johnson County Jail, Matthew Paul Dempsey made several phone calls to a girl and asked the girl to expose her chest to him. They say the calls were made on August 15, 16 and 25, 2021.

Court documents say Dempsey was charged with a felony for enticement or attempted enticement- actor 21 years of age or older and child less than 15 years of age. However, the charge has been amended to sexual trafficking of a child in the second degree. Bond remains $20,000 cash only.

Dempsey pleaded not guilty on January 13. He was indicted by a Grand Jury on February 15, and was arraigned on February 23. A disposition hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Monday, April 25, at Johnson County Circuit Court.
