A Clarksburg man is facing multiple felony charges after Cooper County authorities were called out on Friday, April 22.
According to a release from Cooper County Sheriff Chris Class, a deputy was dispatched to the area of Ellis Davis Road for a report of a theft of a motor vehicle from a residence that contained several firearms.
During the investigation, the deputy located a suspicious vehicle sitting near the intersection of Route U and Pleasant Hill Road abandoned- which shifted the investigation to Moniteau County.
Cooper and Moniteau County deputies worked together and located the stolen vehicle abandoned in Moniteau County. Moniteau County deputies contacted a person of interest and ultimately searched a residence where items from the stolen vehicle were located- including the firearms- which were hidden throughout the residence. Authorities arrested 39-year-old Daniel Purnell.
Court documents say Purnell is charged with three counts of a felony for unlawful possession of a firearm, three counts of stealing a firearm and one count of tampering with a motor vehicle. Bond is fixed at $10,000 cash only.
Purnell’s initial hearing is pending at Cooper County Circuit Court.
