During this quarter’s Develop Saline County Advisory Board meeting, Marshall-Saline Development Corporation Executive Director Cydney Mayfield gave an update on the Regional Welcome Center at Marshall Junction.

Mayfield said they have met with the landowner and a surveyor to start surveying the inspection of land where the welcome center will be placed.

Southern District Commissioner Monte Fenner said the commission did get an appraisal on the two acres of land and the completed survey the day prior to the meeting.

Mayfield explained the cost of construction of the project should be covered by the grant.

In other news from the meeting, commissioners explained that due to the cost of the turn lanes and overages, the five entities are projected to receive a bit more than $91,000 each during this year’s disbursement of sales tax money in October. County voters approved a half-cent sales tax measure for economic development purposes in 2018. It sunsets December 31, 2038.
