The Sedalia Fire Department responded to a residential fire at 915 East Boonville Street in Sedalia. The department responded after receiving a call from a passerby at approximately 7:45 a.m.

According to the Sedalia Fire Department, crews observed smoke and fire in the attic area of the residence. The fire was quickly contained, but the home sustained significant damage. The exact cause of the fire isn’t known, but the department believes a gas wall heater may have been involved.

No injuries were reported at the scene.

The department notes that the fire took place in the Pettis County Fire Protection District, so command was turned over to the Pettis County Fire Department after it arrived on scene.
