
The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and Carrollton Police Department are seeking qualified citizens interested in attending a Citizens Police Academy.
Authorities say this will be a full one-day (eight hours) of classroom instruction on law-enforcement topics such as: general law knowledge, crime scenes, evidence collection, domestic violence response, DWI detection/enforcement and more.
In order to attend, an application must be filled out because a simple background check will be completed. You must be at least 21 years of age and provide your name, address, date of birth, social security number and phone number. After the background check has been completed, you will receive a phone call to inform you about the approval for the class; and further information will be provided at this time.
This free class will not certify you to be a law-enforcement officer in Missouri. It is designed for educational purposes only. You can pick up an application from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office at 106 South Folger or the Carrollton Police Department at 1320 U.S. Highway 65.
This class- which is scheduled for 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 28- requires at least 10 or more applicants, and they must be received by May 14. Lunch will be provided at noon. The location of the class is to be announced.
