An area city’s officials remind residents who to call when reporting dogs running loose.

Lexington city officials say citizens needing to report dangerous dogs or animals running loose should call 9-1-1 or the police department’s non-emergency number at (660) 259-6321.

City staff members do not monitor social media posts in real time on any of the city’s various social media pages- including those for the fire department, police department and animal control.

City officials say by calling 9-1-1, a record of the call is generated and reports are produced detailing the various calls handled by the police department.
