
The Higginsville Board of Aldermen approved two bills for contract agreements for street maintenance and improvement during its meeting on May 2.
City Administrator Jeanette Dobson said the board approved the contracts for Harris Milling Company and Advanced Asphalt Paving and Concrete LLC.
According to a street list from Higginsville Street Superintendent Mark Kays, the total cost of 25,317 square yards of street improvements is set at $309,951.29. The cost for 28,054 square feet of street maintenance is $193,573.
The board also approved proclamations to celebrate Local Government Week from May 2-8, and EMS Week from May 15-22. Dobson said it was a way to recognize the employees who work in local government and the EMS Department.
In other news, Mayor Donald Knehans appointed Ward 1 Alderman Scott Rhoad as Mayor Pro-Tem. Knehans also appointed Ward 3 Alderman Stanton Thompson as the Representative to the Arts Advisory Board.
