Strong storms swept through the Saline County area and high winds caused damage to the Marshall Municipal Airport late Friday night and early Saturday morning.

City officials immediately went to work to secure the terminal building, which had its roof torn off and antenna damaged.

During the city council meeting on Monday, May 2, City Administrator JD Kehrman thanked city crews who responded quickly.

Kehrman continued….

In other news, Kehrman said the city has requested input from the Secretary of State’s Office regarding moving forward in breaking the 12-way tie for the open council seat in Ward 4. Kehrman said there was a list of questions submitted to the Secretary of State’s Office for clarification. Twelve persons received one vote each during the Municipal Election on April 5. Plans are now to hold a special election in August for the seat, which runs out in April 2023.
