An opinion filed by the Western Missouri Court of Appeals on May 3, 2022, in relation to a September 2020 conviction of Lindsay Michelle Forbes, of Blackburn, who was convicted of financial exploitation of an elderly or disabled person, and was ordered to pay $26,118.51 in restitution along with a sentence of 15 years in state prison has been reversed and directs the trial court to discharge Forbes.

The state has 15 days to appeal the opinion of the Court of Appeals.

According to the opinion of the Court of Appeals, the appeal was based upon an error in jury instructions.
