The City of Marshall’s contractor will be beginning the milling process of the city’s Mill/Overlay paving program on Monday, May 9,
According to a release from Municipal Services Director Bill Anderson, this process should be completed that week, and the paving crews should begin paving the streets on Monday, May 16.
Anderson says the schedule is to start milling on Slater Street Monday morning immediately after school is in session as to not interfere with the already hectic traffic. Crews will move south through town following the list of streets until finished. This will leave the street with a two-inch “Bump” at each end of the street, and manholes and valves may be the same. Anderson urges residents to watch out for them.
Anderson provided a map of the scheduled streets. The four streets marked in blue are concrete streets that will receive a reinforcing fabric on the street and then the new asphalt pavement on top.
Anderson says, “These areas are very busy with traffic during this procedure, and I ask everyone slow down and to avoid the area if at all possible. Let us get this work done and keep everyone safe. When you see trucks and machines in the roadway, please find another route. Street closures will be short and moving continuously. This will be an inconvenience for a short time, but we will have a really nice street for a very long time.”
