Nancy L. Hodge, age 81, of Higginsville, died on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at the Meyer Care Center.

She was born November 27, 1940 in Kansas City, MO to George and Frances (Perry) Grisham. She grew up in KC, and graduated from North East High School in 1958. She attended Central Missouri State College, where she was a member of the AGD sorority, and earned her secretarial certificate. She worked for a while at the Kansas City Gas Company, until she found a job at the Lake City Army ammunition plant as a steno/typist/secretary, and worked there for over 33 years. It was there that she met William O. Hodge. He swept her off her feet. They were married on June 28, 1983 in Idaho. They lived in Higginsville, but they travelled the world together. They were active members at Grace United Methodist Church, where she served as the secretary of the administrative board; and was a member of Circle #2.

Nancy was an exceptionally social person. Her calendar was always full and she loved being around people. Her memberships included the Garden Club, Bridge Club, Lunch Bunch, South Side Club, GFWC Women’s Club, Lake Tapawingo Women’s Club and Ski Club. She was a past president of the PEO Chapter EK, and a Queen Mother of the Red Hatters. She and Will loved to play golf; they entertained countless guests at their home; and they created a special ritual of taking each grandchild on an out of state trip when they turned 7 years old.
