Marshall High School has passed tests for the quality of the air in the building.
A release from Marshall Public Schools’ Superintendent Dr. Carol Maher says the results of the district’s latest air-quality tests were negative for the existence of formaldehyde at a dangerous level.
Also, the Missouri Department of Health met with government officials and concluded the 232-page report provided by the district’s insurance is valid and the data reliable.
Dr. Maher says, “The state-level official with whom I spoke said the committee was very comfortable with the results, and the lab used has an excellent reputation.”
Because there were no findings, and the lab report is considered comprehensive, the committee has decided there is no reason to do a walk-through test.
Dr. Maher says, “They do have two recommendations we will complete next week: 1) a two-day heated (90 degrees) process, with a day to cool and circulate new air in the high school; and 2) a fire analysis to be completed, using the data from the lab report.”
Due to the current status of the high school’s air quality, the Missouri Department of Health does not plan to conduct a walk-through test of its own.
Dr. Maher says the special school board meeting that was scheduled for this evening, therefore, has been canceled.
