With the opening of the city pool just around the corner, the hiring of several employees was approved the Sweet Springs Board of Aldermen during its meeting this week.

According to unofficial minutes from the meeting, Ethan Sims was approved as the pool’s manager and Sarah Youngblood as assistant pool manager. Seth Rader, Bryce Butts, Arabella Bredehoeft and Shadai Fuchs, who are currently certified, were approved as pool life guards. Zapher Lea was approved as a life guard, pending re-certification; and Samantha Butts, Paige Chavies, Sarah Mitchell, Kendall Vogelsmeier, Victoria Gammage, Kendall Brewer and Rachel Mapes were approved, pending certifications.

The pool is scheduled to open for the summer on Saturday, May 28.

The pool hours will be 1 to 7 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 1 to 6 p.m. on Sundays.

Aldermen approved increasing the cost of pool parties from $125 to $150 if the party will have more than 50 guests. The rest of the prices will remain the same.
